W Bros McCarthy and Turner completing work on the Lord Carrington Lodge sign. Lord Carrington Lodge at Fingal has a grant from the Masonic Public Relations Fund to erect signage on the facade of its premises. The Fingal Masonic Hall, close to the wide main street of the town, now has a direction sign at the nearby intersection, and the new signage on the front of the building which advises visitors of meeting dates and times, and contact numbers. Modern Signs in Launceston prepared the sign, which was placed with assistance from a local builder and Lord Carrington members. To provide some weather protection a small metal awning was placed at the top of the sign. The members of the lodge are resident over a wide area, and now information is locally available to visitors, with local residents knowing that the lodge is ‘alive and functioning”.
The Masonic Hall at Fingal, was erected in 1925, and dedicated on April 17, 1926. Originally the Lodge met at the Council Chambers, on the Saturday nearest to the full moon in the month. In July 1932 the meeting date was set on the second Saturday of the month. I n 1952 increasing numbers necessitated construction of a new lodge room on the eastern end of the building, which was dedicated on December 13. The kitchen was extended and a small supper room added in 1991.Phil Corby
